Entering a sukkah
Sukkot celebrations in Brooklyn, NY.
These pictures offer a glimpse into the street life of Borough Park and Crown Heights, during the 2018 weeklong holiday of Sukkot.
Like every year, the Jewish neighborhood celebrated the harvest holiday that also marks the wanderings of the Jews through the desert after the Exodus, spending as much time as possible in the sukkah, the temporary outdoor shelter open to the sky, in which they eat meals with friends and family.
Just like a sukkah, everything is fleeting, and everything is temporary and I wanted to immortalize some of these fleeting moments, some of the striking features of street life that gave the neighborhood the air of spiritual festivity.
